Merrell arrived at Eastbay earlier this year in the form of running shoes, like the True Glove. Along with their creative and functional designs, their partnership with Vibram, has helped them become a popular choice amongst running enthusiasts. The Merrell product line also features a number of styles that fit nicely along with an active lifestyle.
The latest arrivals from Merrell come in the form of hiking inspired shoes and boots. Some of the highlights include the women’s Merrell Avian Light Sport, which is shoe designed for hiking. The lightweight design features a couple of key elements. The first being a Vibram TC5+ rubber outsole which, unlike many shoe designs, helps keep your foot flexing in natural way. The Avian Light Sport also features Merrell’s QForm comfort midsole which provides cushioning engineered specifically for women.
Another new noteworthy design is the Merell Refuge Ultra Gore-Tex. The Refuge Ultra Gore-Tex features everything you would want in a trail shoe. The tongue is designed with debris-resistance in mind, helping to keep pesky pebbles and rocks from causing discomfort. The use of Gore-Tex helps handle any of the weather elements you’ll meet along the way. Speed laces make for easy on and off action, while the Ortholite insoles and air cushion midsole provide comfort. A Vibram rubber outsole is in place for durable, and reliable tractional performance.
For those with more traditional tastes, the Eagle Origins is Merrell’s take on the timeless hiking boot. A combination of pig suede and mesh throughout the uppers give this mid-cut design a soft and comfortable feel, while the Aegis treatment helps prevent bacteria from becoming an issue. Merrell’s air cushion in the heel provides shock absorption and stability. On top of that, the design is eco-friendly, with 15% of the insole and footbed coming from recycled materials, and 20% of the outsole coming from recycled rubber.
