In case you’re new to my blog, I am an intern at Eastbay who is training to run the Chicago Marathon this October. You can follow my progress to get the inside scoop on what it’s really like to run your first marathon.

My vacation to Florida was the perfect opportunity for me to find out whether my new CW-X Stabilyx 3/4 Tights, donated by Eastbay, are as breathable as they claim to be. Since south Florida is somewhere between 90 and 100 degrees every day this time of year, I went running early in the morning to avoid the worst of the heat. I brought my Under Armour Attack Shorts too, in case the CW-X Tights were too hot. The first day, I woke up at 6 am and ran 6 miles in the Under Armour shorts. It was hot and humid, but I got to soak in the ocean afterward, so it was worth it.

The next day I ran 4 miles in the CW-X Tights. Note: these tights made me look like a professional scuba diver. I felt like I should be swimming underwater rather than running along the shore.

Despite how the tights looked, I was really impressed with how they performed. I am now officially a huge fan of CW-X. Not only did the tights keep me cool, even in 90 degree heat, they also provided amazing support for my muscles. Running in sand is not easy, but at the end of the run in the CW-X my legs felt just as energized as they did when I started the workout. As I ran, I could actually feel the tights supporting my calves, knees, and thighs. One tip I have for these tights – they will naturally adjust to where they need to be on your legs after about .2 miles; just make sure that the bottom of the tights are even on your legs before you start.

The best thing about running at 6 am? Seeing the sunrise…
