AAU Sullivan Award TrophyHonoring America’s Top High School Athletes

Many athletes show leadership and skill in their sport; fewer show that same determination and drive in the other areas of life, like academics, leadership and community involvement. Eastbay and AAU want to help those “few” achieve their dreams of a quality college education. For the first time ever, AAU will recognize four senior male athletes and four senior female athletes with scholarships with a combined value of $50,000.

For over 80 years, the AAU has awarded the Sullivan Award to top amateur athletes in the nation. Considered the “Oscar” of sports awards, it has been presented to prominent athletes including Michelle Kwan, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Tim Tebow and Shawn Johnson. Even LeBron James was once a runner-up in the voting. The new AAU Sullivan High School award will offer that same level of recognition to select seniors in high school.

To be considered for the award, high school athletes must submit an online application. The application period ends April 10, 2011. Sign up at http://www.highschoolsullivan.org.
