FC Barcelona finished up an incredible season with a victory over Valladolid for their 20th La Liga title. Barcelona finished with a record of 31-6-1, dominating their opponents, much like they did Sunday 4-0, finishing the season with a +74 goal difference.

Their success this season can be, in large part, attributed to the play of two players, striker Lionel Messi, and goalkeeper Víctor Valdés.

Valdés has only allowed 24 goals this season and played in all 38 games. Finishing with a personal best coefficient of 0.63, and adding a third Zamora trophy for the best goal keeper, to his collection.

Messi also added another trophy to his growing collection. The striker was an easy choice for the Pichichi trophy, leading the league with an unbelievable 34 goals. Messi also will receive the Golden Boot for being the top scorer in the European Leagues. At 22 years young, Messi also furthered his resume as one of the greatest footballers ever with the 34 goals, which equal Ronaldo’s record for most goals in a single season for Barcelona.

This marks the first time that FC Barcelona has had players with the best goalkeeping record and the league’s top scorer in the same season.
