Eastbay Youth All-Americans Converge in San Antonio for Bowl Week (1)

words // Katie Rosenberg

It takes athleticism, determination, and leadership to be an Eastbay Youth All-American. Those traits are on display this week in San Antonio, Texas where the best 7th, 8th, and 9th grade football players in the country are preparing for the annual Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl games.

150 hand-picked, elite athletes packed the Wyndham conference center for orientation, Wednesday night before heading to their first practice. For the rest of the week, players from the east and the west will challenge their bodies with two-a-days as well as their minds with strategy and leadership clinics. On Saturday and Sunday, Team East and Team West will put their preparation to the test during the bowl games.

You can follow along. The games will be broadcast on ESPN3. You can also join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by hash-tagging your post with #PrepareToWin.

Don’t forget to vote for the 2013 General Dennis D. Cavin National Player of the Year Award. Just head over to the Eastbay Youth All-American Facebook page and vote for the best player 15-and-under during the previous football season.
