Organizers are calling it one of the most exciting football games in Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl history. The 9th grade teams from the East and the West put on a show Saturday night in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

After an exciting four quarters, the teams were tied 23 -23 at the end of regulation. Heading into overtime, East took possession of the ball first and nabbed the first touchdown. East’s kicker knocked it through the uprights for the extra point to give East a 30-23 lead.

West answered right back with a touchdown of their own. But when West’s kicker wound up and booted it for the extra point, East got a hand on the ball, blocking the kick and ending the game at 30 -29 to preserve the victory for Team East.

You can watch the 7th and 8th grade Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl games on Eastbay.com/eastbayyouthallamericanbowl and ESPN3.

Earlier in the day, the nation’s most elite high school players took to the gridiron to compete in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The game provides a launching pad for college and NFL stars. Past veterans include Heisman Trophy winners, NFL MVP winners, more than 200 NFL players, and hundreds more college stars.
