Ready For The Boston Marathon: Hear How Top Runners Are Preparing

The Boston Marathon is one of the world’s largest races and, every year, many of the best runners test their mettle along the grueling course. We got a chance to talk to two of this year’s biggest names, Desiree Linden and Shadrack Biwott, about what they’re looking forward to, how they’ve prepared, and which Brooks Running shoes they’ve been rocking to train for the event.

Desiree Linden

Boston Marathon Story 1

Linden has now had two fourth-place finishes at the Boston Marathon. She’s ready to finish even higher in 2018 thanks to intense training and a focused mindset.

What’s She’s Looking Forward To In Boston: “Boston is so much more than a race, it’s truly an experience. I’m looking forward to competing on the historic course and once again soaking in the excitement and passion the city brings to the run.”

How She’s Training: “Most marathons you prepare for the 26.2 mile distance, but for the Boston Marathon you prepare for the course. I’ve been doing some very course-specific work including plenty of up and down hill runs.”

Shadrack Biwott

Boston Marathon Story 6

Biwott missed the podium in Boston last year by only one spot. He’s determined to take that next step in 2018.

What’s He’s Looking Forward To In Boston: “I’m looking forward to lining up at Hopkinton with my fellow athletes and thousands of other runners. I’m also looking to make my family, my community, my country, my sponsor Brooks Running, and coaches proud by giving everything that I have learned to #jhboston26.”

How He’s Training: “I’m taking every day seriously by making sure that I give 100%. I am incorporating more strength training and dedicating at least 30 min each day for dynamic stretching. Also, I’m more cautious on my recovery runs making sure that I take it easy to allow recovery for main sessions.”

Shadrack’s Favorite Brooks Running Shoe: Brooks Launch

If, like Shadrack, you’re a fan of the Brooks Launch 5s, then you can’t miss out on this special, limited-edition Boston colorway. Inspired by the incredibly rare blue lobster and the Boston Harbor’s tidal chart lines, these shoes are the perfect way to ‘run wicked happy.’ The ropes and anchors along the upper tie the nautical theme together and create a perfect blend — high tide and high performance.
