Top Kicks Of Tarkanian Classic

The Tarkanian Classic brings the best high school basketball teams and players in the country to Las Vegas to showcase their skills. It’s also an opportunity for elite athletes to show off their hottest kicks. Basketball combines skill and style more than any other sport. You look good, you feel good, you play great. Here’s what the country’s top athletes were sporting at the Tarkanian Classic.

Pre-Game

It doesn’t matter if you dress up before the game or dress down with a sweat suit for comfort. For most hoopers, it’s all about the shoes.  The latest Jordan Retros seem to be the most sought-after addition to a player’s pre-game look by far. Recent releases like the Retro 11 ‘Space Jam,’ Retro 3 ‘True Blue,’ and various Retro 12s were the most common at the Tarkanian Classic. You can find a fresh new pair of Jordan Retros to rock during pre-game here.

There are plenty of other options. The Yeezys are a rare commodity, but always a hit. Casual shoes with simple styles are common go-to options, like the adidas Originals Stan Smith, Nike Huarache, and Nike Air Max.

Game Time

When game time rolls around, it’s time to bring your “A” game. Functionality is key, but nobody wants to sacrifice their style. Let’s break it down by brand here.

Nike – For top-level guards, a common choice at the Tarkanian Classic was the Kobe 11 and Kyrie 2. Young athletes model their game after these superstars, so it’s only natural to take some style tips from them as well. Swingmen and post-players tend to do the same, choosing the Nike LeBron Soldier 10 and KD 9 as their on-court favorites.

That’s not always the case. Plenty of players switch it up when it comes to signature athletes and the positions they play. Others opt for non-signature shoes, like the Nike Hyperdunk 2016, providing a subtle look with plenty of functionality.

Jordan – On-court performance shoes for players who wore Jordan at the Tarkanian Classic was dominated by the AJ XXXI. Sneakerheads love Jordans, and the AJ XXXI provides classic Jordan style with premium technology that’s fit for the basketball’s best. Another common pick for Jordan fans was the Super.Fly 5, a shoe that’s made for the game’s most explosive athletes.

adidas –   The Harden Vol. 1s just recently released and were already being worn by a few athletes at the Tarkanian Classic.  The Crazylight Boost 2016 was a big hit as well, especially models that are James Harden PEs. Signature shoes like the D Lillard 2 were a favorite of guards, and plenty of players repped various D Rose signature kicks. The Crazy Explosive also burst onto the scene for people who don’t like to wear low-tops on the court.

Under Armour – Stephen Curry reigns supreme when it comes to Under Armour. Whether they’re repping the Curry 2.5 or the new Curry 3s, athletes who prefer Under Armour love to rep the back-to-back MVP. The Under Armour Clutchfit Drive 3 was a common choice as well for players looking for breathability, support, and Charged Cushioning.

Post-game

After bringing home the win, it’s all about comfort and recovery. In sunny Las Vegas, that meant a pair of slides was the most common post-game footwear. They’re simple, easy, and provide a casual look. Slides also make it easy to wrap a bag of ice around a sore ankle to aid in the recovery process for the next game.

Sliding back into your pre-game shoes is also a perfect move here. For those who aren’t playing in Las Vegas and have to deal with colder temperatures and snow, a classic Timberland boot completes your post-game look in style.

How About You?

These are some of the most popular style of kicks we saw at the Tarkanian Classic, but we know everybody has their own individual looks. What do you rock pre-game? What’s your on-court favorites? How about post-game kicks? Let us know how you handle your shoe game in the comments below.
