Introducing The Nike LeBron 15

Nike LBJ 15 Blog 1

LeBron James is only a few games into his 15th season as a professional basketball player, but he’s already proven that he’s still the king of the court. As LeBron gears up for another title run, he’ll do so in a brand new signature shoe.

The Nike LeBron 15 introduces new technology, new materials, and a new look that are unlike any other shoe. Like LeBron himself, the LeBron 15 is truly one of a kind. We turned to Jason Petrie, the designer of the LeBron 15, to break down King James’ new kick.

We have three adages: ‘Lock me down so I can fly,’ which came straight from LeBron; ‘Protect me from myself,’ which relates to how we build for season-long comfort; and ‘Make me light.’ We try to keep those rules steady and make sure that we address them in all of LeBron’s shoes

The first thing you’ll notice on the LeBron 15 is the unique aesthetic. The shoe features a new iteration of the popular Flyknit material, Nike BattleKnit, which was made specifically for LeBron and gives an aggressive, modern look to the shoe.

More importantly, Battleknit offers great containment without being bulky. LeBron’s game demands a high level of strength and containment, so BattleKnit delivers that while also providing the fit and dialed-in feel of Flyknit.

“It’s an all-in-one package that allows LeBron to feel locked down, feel protected, and also be able to move freely to dicate the action on the court and to respond and react when he needs to,” Petrie said.

The LeBron 15 is also outfitted with a brand new Air unit, which combines Max Air and Zoom to deliver the ultimate lightweight ride and strong impact protection.

“It’s all the things you would expect out of Zoom Air with the comfort and protection of Max Air,” Petrie said. “It allows LeBron to run and jump at full speed, come down with force, absorb that impact, and then sprint off in another direction while returning energy with every step.”

More Information

The Nike LeBron 15 is available now for $184.99. Kids’ sizes will are also available. As always, stay locked to Eastbay’s TW and IG accounts for release date information on new launches and upcoming colorways.
