Behind The New Dame 3 Colorways

Damian Lillard is dropping some serious heat with two new colorways of the Dame 3. Lillard’s third signature shoe is his best yet and the new colorways are some of our favorites. We’ll break down the two latest colorways below, but the shoe’s tech also deserves some recognition.

BOUNCE cushioning keeps you energized all day long, while a breathable mesh upper keeps you feeling fresh. A booty construction locks the foot down securely and a customizable lacing system lets you tailor the fit to your individual taste. The Dame 3 is all about on-court performance, and if Damian Lillard’s 26 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game are any indication, the shoe can flat out get the job done.

Dame 3 ‘Black/Black’

Dame 3

Inspired by Damian Lillard’s shooting and clutch performances, the all-black colorway is a nod to his ability to finish off a game. Lillard has developed into one of the game’s most lethal guards in crunch time, so adidas wanted to create a shoe that matched his mentality and ability to come up big when the game is on the line. Once he gets the ball in his hands, the arena might as well fade to black because the game is about to be over.

The colorway is specifically inspired by Lillard’s 51-point performance against Golden State in 2016 and his game-winner in the playoffs against Houston in 2014.

Dame 3 ‘Wasatch Front’

The ‘Wasatch Front’ colorway pays tribute to Lillard’s triumphs as he transitioned from a young kid in Oakland to a rising star in college. “Wasatch Front” is the name of the second track off of Damian Lillard’s debut rap album. In the song, Lillard raps about his journey from his hometown of Oakland to his college town of Ogden, Utah, which was a key period in Lillard’s personal and professional development.

The colorway is named after the mountain range bordering Ogden that rises to create the Wasatch Front, a stretch of land that spans across Utah.  The shoe represents his college colors with a dark grey upper, white BOUNCE cushioning, light grey accents, a purple sockliner, and matching three stripes on the outsole.
