After squandering a 3-1 series lead, the Los Angeles Clippers found themselves on the road for a Game 7 clash with the Memphis Grizzlies. Not exactly the most offensively efficient basketball game we’ve seen played, the two teams traded baskets and leads throughout the first three quarters, Memphis carrying a slim one-point advantage into the fourth quarter. However, it was the Clippers’ bench that proved to be the difference in the game, scoring 25 of the team’s 27 fourth quarter points to secure the hard-earned 82-72 win. Chris Paul led the way with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The Clippers will open the second round in San Antonio on Tuesday.
In Sunday’s other game, LeBron James was officially presented with the Maurice Podoloff Trophy for winning NBA MVP honors before tip-off of Game 1 in the Miami Heat’s second round series against the Indiana Pacers. Despite Miami losing forward Chris Bosh early to an abdominal strain, LeBron led his team to victory with a performance fitting of an MVP. He racked up 35 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and a block, carrying Miami to a 95-86 win. Dwyane Wade added 29 points, while Bosh scored 13 points in just 16 minutes of action.
