Reebok CrossFit - Changing the Way People Perceive Fitness

words // Brandon Richard

In 2010, Reebok and CrossFit forged a partnership based on their mutual commitment to fitness and finding new ways to promote healthy lifestyles. Through the partnership, Reebok is also the title sponsor of the CrossFit Games, described by the brands as the world’s premier test to find the Fittest on Earth. Additionally, the two entities launched Reebok CrossFit “Boxes” - the word CrossFitters use to describe their gyms – around the world and have successfully introduced a range of footwear and apparel designed specifically for CrossFit training and competition.

The Reebok CrossFit range includes head-to-toe sportswear, including hats, headbands, tops, bottoms and socks. Compression gear is made with Reebok’s Play Dry fabric to wick away moisture and keep athletes cool, while jackets feature soft performance materials that allow them to be worn during training or casually.

Of course, any good training regiment requires proper footwear, and Reebok CrossFit currently offers models that are not only lightweight, but durable enough to withstand the most intense workouts.

The CrossFit Nano 2.0 features a synthetic and mesh upper that offers breathability and protection. A DuraGrip toe cap application helps enhance abrasion resistance, while a full-length, low-profile IMEVA midsole with a toe drop provides a natural fit and feel. Suitable for orthotics is a removable Ortholite foam sockliner. High-abrasion carbon rubber on the outsole and sidewall lug wraps increases durability and forefoot flex grooves add flexibility.

Perfectly timed for Olympics is the CrossFit Oly U-Form, described as one of the lightest lifting trainers on the market. Full-grain leather has been placed on the shoe’s toe for durability, while a nylon-constructed support strap enhances overall stability. U-Form Custom Fit Technology, which we’ve also seen used on Reebok football cleats, provides a perfect lockdown fit. Perforations along medial and lateral upper components improve breathability. Semi-rigid forefoot detailing allows for flexibility and multi-functional use. Injected TPU heel wedge with carbon rubber outsole gives lightweight stability and traction.

Long-term, Reebok has plans to strengthen the CrossFit collaboration through several initiatives and activities, including sponsoring the recent sponsoring of the 2012 World CrossFit Games, an international competition dedicated to finding the fittest man and woman on earth). Furthermore, they’re looking at adding more permanent CrossFit Box openings and expanding their corresponding footwear, apparel and accessories collection.
