With the design and performance emphasized in earlier Nike KD VI releases, this new “Bamboo” colorway shifts focus to storytelling.
The KD VI “Bamboo” echoes traditional Chinese values associated with bamboo: balance, harmony, toughness and versatility. Typically after four consecutive years of delicate care, bamboo undergoes a transformation in its fifth year. This story parallels the growth of Kevin Durant’s game this past season, his fifth in the NBA.
Representing the color of bamboo in its different growth stages, the “Bamboo” VI features a green and bronze upper with an overlaid bamboo graphic pattern. On the outsole is a special version of the KD logo derived from the Chinese character for bamboo, which is ironically similar to the english letters ‘KD.’ The shoe’s graphic design is pulled from the “Six Arts” of ancient Chinese culture.
