NFL Watch // Rodgers Has Career Best Performance In Home Win

words // Brandon Richard

After being outgunned by Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers last week, Aaron Rodgers bounced back with a record-setting performance in the Green Bay Packers’ home opener on Sunday.

Rodgers completed 34 of his 42 passes against the Washington Redskins, racking up a career-high 480 yards and four touchdowns. The 480 yards tied a franchise record set by Rodgers’ former teammate Matt Flynn in 2012.

Wide receiver James Jones also has a career-best performance with 178 receiving yards, while James Starks ran for 132 yards in the 38-20 win. Sunday marked the first time the Packers had a 400-yard passer and 100-yard rusher in the same game.

In other Week 2 action, Peyton bested little brother Eli in the Manning Bowl; Steven Jackson scored for the Atlanta Falcons in a win over his former team; the Miami Dolphins start 2-0 for only the second time since 2002 after outlasting Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts; Kansas City matched last season’s win total after shocking the Dallas Cowboys at home; Philip Rivers picked apart the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary to give the Chargers their first win of the season; the Houston Texans won their second-straight game on the final play; Seattle looked like the class of the NFL in a dominant 29-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers; and the Cincinnati Bengals eased by the Pittsburgh Steelers last night.

In today’s NFL Watch, check out some of the football cleats that hit the field during Week 2.
