NFL Officials wear Pink Accessories

words // Brandon Richard

During the month of October, the NFL observes Breast Cancer Awareness Month by allowing players, coaching staffs and officials to wear pink gear on the field. Some of the game-worn items are then auctioned off for charity to support the American Cancer Society and related team charities. The league also continues efforts with their Crucial Catch campaign, which focuses on the importance of annual screenings, especially for women over the age of 40.

Notable results from the first week of Breast Cancer Awareness Month included the St. Louis Rams handing the Arizona Cardinals their first loss of the season; Andrew Luck leading the Indianapolis Colts to an improbable and emotional comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers; the Atlanta Falcons staying unbeaten with a comeback victory of their own against the Washington Redskins; the Pittsburgh Steelers squeaking by the in-state rival Philadelphia Eagles; Tom Brady besting Peyton Manning in a dominant New England Patriots win over the Denver Broncos; and the Houston Texans moving to 5-0 after topping the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

Check out today’s NFL Watch to see what pink football cleats and gear hit the field in Week 5.
