Who’s the best running back in the NFL? It seems like Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings has had that title locked down since entering the league back in 2007. However, new competition for the top spot may have arrived this season in the form of Philadelphia Eagles trotter LeSean “Shady” McCoy, who seems up to the task of matching Peterson for every ground and air yard gained on the year. This past Sunday, McCoy had his best game of the season, helping his Eagles continue their turnaround with the highest rushing output of the weekend. With his performance, Shady is the latest player to be named Eastbay NFL Player of the Week.
Carrying the rock 30 times, McCoy racked up a league-high 185 yards against a Dallas Cowboys team that was ranked first against the rush coming into the game. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry and found the endzone twice on the day. Behind McCoy’s game, the Eagles pulled out a dominant 34-7 victory over the Cowboys and moved to 3-4, tied for second place in the NFC East.
Is McCoy ready to take over Peterson as the NFL’s top running back?
