words_Jordan Hagedorn

Last week Michigan Sophomore was my College Football Player of the Week. This week stud Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett takes it. Although Kansas State RB Daniel Thomas made a strong case, rushing 34 times for 181 yards and 2 TDs in a win over Iowa State, Mallett takes the title for leading the Razorbacks to a huge SEC win over Georgia on Saturday.

In the victory over the Bulldogs, the Michigan transfer went 21 for 33 passing for 380 yards and 3 TDs, including the 40-yard game-winner to Greg Childs with 15 seconds remaining. He also had a 57-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 22-yarder in the third quarter. Mallett is averaging over 360 yards passing per game this year along with 9 touchdowns and just 2 INTs.
The win sets up next week’s match-up between the 10th ranked Razorbacks and #1 team in the country, the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide have outscored their opponents 134-19 so far this year and just got Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram back from injury this past week. The match-up features Alabama coach Nick Saban and Arkansas’ Bobby Petrino in a battle for SEC West supremacy.
