Back in the day, when Spike Lee teamed up with Michael Jordan for some of those memorable “It’s Gotta Be the Shoes” commercials, MJ was wearing the Air Jordan V. However, when Jordan Brand teamed up with Spike Lee again in recent years, Spike took the opportunity to come up with a style that featured an assortment of Jordan shoes. The Jordan Spiz’ike line has been released in a number of colorways, and now returned to one of the colorways most highly regarded amongst sneakerheads, albeit with a slight twist.
The combination of Aquatone and Varsity Purple colors has been commonly referred to as the “Grape” or “Grapes” colorway over the years, and in the latest colorway of the Jordan Spiz’ike, these colors are combined with a number of classic elements from the Jordan line. The most noticeable is likely the Elephant Print that comes from the earlier Air Jordan III model, but an interesting detail is the embroidered “23″ on the heel of the side panel, which was one of the elements most memorable on more traditional Chicago Bulls colorways of the Air Jordan V.
Will all of these elements combined make the “Grape” Spiz’ike a classic in the future? Only time will tell, but you have a chance to get them now.
