One of the most anticipated elements of new college football seasons has become the unveiling of Nike’s Pro Combat uniforms and apparel. The Pro Combat system of dress takes an innovative approach to both the design and appearance aspects of uniforms, incorporating cultural cues of each team’s heritage. In addition to game-changing visuals, the uniforms offer the ultimate in lightweight protection.

Nike Football recently announced the nine teams that will be participating in the 2011 Pro Combat program, and leading the way this fall will be players from the University of Oregon, Boise State and Georgia. Before these teams hit the field in their new digs, Nike has released special “Rivalry Pack” products for each school to celebrate their inclusion in the program. Fans will not only have the opportunity to own the Nike Vapor Jet Premium Rivalry Gloves that the players will be wearing during games, but also special school-inspired make-ups of the brand new Nike Air Max Trainer Max.

The Nike Vapor Jet Premium Rivalry Gloves feature premium grip technology, making the style a must for receivers and defensive backs. An adjustable strap has been implemented to give you a secure, customized fit. Lastly, in true Pro Combat style, the gloves feature team graphics that form the school logo when both hands are interlocked.

School pride can displayed boldly with the Nike Rivalry Air Max Trainer 1.3. Each shoe is designed in school colors and features design cues that call to the heritage of each program. Team logos are centered on the tongues in shield form, while the heels are adorned with symbolic graphics. For Oregon, the letters “WTD,” which stand for the team’s “Win the Day” motto; Georgia keeps it simple with the classic G logo; and the Boise State pair “brings the hammer.”

You can see Oregon’s Pro Combat uniforms and apparel on the field against the LSU Tigers at Cowboys Stadium this Saturday, September 3rd. Georgia and Boise State will wear their new gear against each other at the Georgia Dome on Saturday as well.

All of these Nike Rivalry products are available now over at Eastbay.
