As time passes, the list of popular sneakers that have never returned as a Retro seems to get shorter every season. This spring we can mark one more off of that list of Retros we want to see come back. The Nike Air Trainer SC II returns today in one of the most popular colorways amongst the sneaker community.
The Nike Air Trainer SC II was made famous by none other than dual-sport star Bo Jackson. As arguably one of the most physically fit professional athletes of his day, Jackson’s partnership with Nike essentially inspired the Nike Training department up in Beaverton, Oregon. While the Air Trainer SC II hasn’t been in production since it originally released in the early ’90s, the allure of this rare style has taunted sneaker collectors for years.
Now collectors can add this Black and Varsity Red colorway to their collection. It features a full-grain leather upper and nubuck detailing. The exaggerated forefoot strap in hindsight now acts as a subtle reminder of the direction that sneaker design would take in the years that followed. While maybe not the most anticipated colorway, these will probably top the “must-have list” for many looking to relive a bit of the past.
