In 1994, Charles Barkley had just come off arguably his best season. The 1993 season saw “The Round Mound of Rebound” lead the Suns into the NBA Finals against Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. When it was all said and done, Barkley and the Suns fell short of wining the title, but Barkley’s statistics of 25.6 points per game, 12.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists was enough proof that he contributed in all aspects of the game, and the NBA Awarded him the Most Valuable Player Award.
In 1994 he got his first true signature shoe from Nike, the Air Max 2 CB 94. Of course, the original colorway was colored in a perfect way to match the Phoenix Suns uniforms with a combination of black, white and purple. This Retro colorway that will release later this month probably wasn’t created to remind Sir Charles of Chicago’s victory in the Finals, but for sneakerheads the combination of black and red is a classic during this era and can’t help but bring up thoughts of the Bulls.
