Nike serves up the latest offering from their Free 2014 Running Collection, the Free 4.0 Flyknit.

Described as a conglomerate of effort, these Nike running shoes feature Flyknit construction, giving the runner stretch and support where needed. Dynamic, supportive fit through the midfoot is provided by Flywire technology in the laces. A Flyknit tongue works with notches easy on and off.

The heel of the shoe is knitted with non-stretch material, allowing your structure to stay firm while you stay supported. A low-profile phylite midsole offers a resilient ride and is sturdy enough to double as a midsole, reducing the shoe’s overall weight.

Hexagonal flex grooves create six different flex points for a natural range of motion, along with secondary cuts that intersect the hexagons for additional flexibility. The curvature of the foot is mimicked with a minimalistic, molded sockliner, while the anatomical heel on the outsole is rounded for a natural range of motion on contact. Traction comes from the solid rubber under the toe and waffle pistons work to absorb impact and responsiveness.

Following the launch of the Free 3.0 Flyknit, the Free 4.0 Flyknit arrives at Eastbay on Thursday, May 1. Both men’s and women’s colorways will be available for $120 each. Follow @Eastbay on Twitter and @OfficialEastbay on Instagram for all release information and updates.

I tried a pair of the Nike 5.0 Free a couple of weeks back, after a couple of miles I was ready to go back to my Ghost running shoes. They look great and initially feel great but they offer little support
