Eastbay Photo of the Week: Reebok Kamikaze 2011

words // Nick Engvall

Although Reebok might be better remembered for outside-of-the-box technologies, like The Pump system or ZigTech, there is one thing that will always override those unforgettable creations with simpler selling points and a crazy color scheme: the Reebok Kamikaze.

While the original has yet to return as a retro, despite 1000’s of eagerly waiting sneaker aficionados, the name has returned to the Reebok line in other ways over the years. This spring it will return once again as the Reebok Kamikaze 2011. The 2011 Reebok Kamikaze takes a casual approach with the same Hexalite cushioning that equipped the original in 1995. Hints of the original come through thanks to a similar overlay design.

Today’s Eastbay Photo of the Week gives us a peek at two of the colorways that will help bring the Kamikaze name back. Look for these to be available in June.

They’re calling these Kamikaze but they really have nothing to do with the Kamikaze line at all! They are the Swizz Beatz x Reebok Kamikaze. Very nice shoe. Stupid name for it though.

  • ugly sneaker IMO

These are okay, but I would love to see the original Kamikaze make a return!
