History will repeat itself this weekend, when the ‘Taxi’ Air Jordan 12 makes its highly anticipated return. Seventeen years ago, sneakerheads also had the opportunity to grab the classic for the holidays, when it graced our December 1996 catalog.
Today’s Eastbay Memory Lane focuses on Page 3, which the ‘Taxi’ 12 shared with Charles Barkley’s Air CB 34 and various Air Flight models. You’ll mainly recognize the Air Zoom Flight, one of the shoes Penny Hardaway wore prior to having his own signature line.
Did you own the original ‘Taxi’ 12 in 96-97? After seeing the incredible Frozen Moment commercial, there was no way I wasn’t getting a pair. They were mostly sold out in my area, but I managed to find them in a size and a half too large. No problem — stuffed socks in the toebox and the rest is history. I definitely don’t recommend doing that now, though.
