Eastbay Memory Lane: adidas Casual 1999

words // Zack Schlemmer

This edition of Eastbay Memory Lane brings to you a page of adidas casual kicks in memory of Beastie Boy Adam Yauch A.K.A. MCA, who along with the other Beastie Boys helped keep a few of these adidas classics popular throughout the 80’s and 90’s.

The Hip-Hop and music world in general lost an important person last week when Yauch past away from cancer that was first diagnosed in 2009.  Along with Run DMC, the Beastie Boys were also known for rocking classic adidas sneakers like the Superstar, Campus, and Gazelle which are all seen on this Eastbay page from 1999.  The Beasties helped keep these adidas kicks, along with other sneakers like the PUMA Clyde, in fashion throughout the 80’s, 90’s and beyond.  There’s probably more than a few people who ordered some of these adidas classics from Eastbay throughout the years because of the Beastie Boys.

So uh…1999 Adidas charged $59.99 for their superstars.

2012 Adidas still charges $59.99 for their superstars.

    What’s Nike’s excuse?
