This Thursday will mark the official launch of Derrick Rose’s new signature adidas basketball shoe, the adiZero Rose 2. With the Chicago Bulls point guard running away with NBA MVP honors last season, this launch is different from any other adidas has had in recent years. Not only is there pressure on Derrick to follow up his MVP campaign, but there was pressure on adidas to deliver a shoe worthy of being worn by the league’s top player. They did just that with the adiZero Rose 2, which is available to pre-order at Eastbay today.

The adidas adiZero Rose 2 takes on an “All Flights Cancelled” theme, paying tribute to how Derrick’s style of play has derailed opposing teams’ chances for the upcoming season. A synthetic and textile build is featured on the upper, with additional support provided through the use of SprintWeb technology. Taking Rose’s high-speed game into consideration, a dynamic ankle lock system was employed for enhanced security. SprintFrame technology helps return energy and control motion, while Splatter Traction is a nod to Derrick’s “volcanic” on-court performance.
