The world of minimalistic running shoes continues to get more and more competitive as manufacturers raise the bar and simultaneously lower the weights of their latest running shoe designs. The latest company to create an impressive minimalistic design is no stranger to running culture. Asics has been bringing their designs to the USA since 1977, however, they might have outdone the rest with their newest version of the GEL-Speedstar.
The GEL-Speedstar 5 is a minimal neutral running shoe that tips the scales at the incredibly light weight of just 8.9 ounces. The design uses a mesh upper that is comfortable and breathable. The upper is also stitch free and features no overlays so there is no need to worry about chaffing or uncomfortable rubbing. To further reduce any potential irritation, the GEL-Speedstar 5 utilizes an asymmetrical lace design that provide superb fit and comfort. Cushioning is handled by always reliable GEL cushioning in the heel area and Solyte throughout the midsole. This combination of Lime and Lightning with black details is just one of the colorways that are now available.
