words // Katie Rosenberg

The Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl continued Sunday. Teams of 7th and 8th grade All-Stars from the East and the West headed to the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas to play for bragging rights and a trophy.

The 7th grade All-Star teams from the East and the West hit the field first, Sunday morning. Less than one minute into game, the teams had already scored three touchdowns during three separate kickoff returns. East eventually ran away with the game, with a final score of 41 – 15.

Sunday afternoon, the 8th grade All-Stars from the East and West got the chance to leave it all out on the field. After a scoreless first quarter, West managed to run in a touchdown while keeping East to a field goal. In the second half, West scored a safety and two more touchdowns. West eventually won 22-10, taking home the hardware for the first time in five years.

Each year, a selection committee reviews thousands of athletes who are nominated for the Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl, whittling the list to just dozens of players per team. Check out the guidelines if you are interested in being nominated. Football University also holds camps each year to help players learn the skills they need to become elite athletes.

Congratulations to all players who made it the 2014 Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl!
