Always near the forefront of the performance running shoes race, New Balance is preparing to release a new colorway of their 101 silhouette. Although the New Balance 101 may be a low-profile and lightweight running shoe, don’t let that make you think it’s not ready to take on any terrain you are willing to take it through.

The New Balance 101 is packed with technology that aims to keep you moving on the trail without interruption from uninvited rocks and debris that always try to come along for the ride. The New Balance 101 features an aggressive outsole and Rock Stop technology, a thin layer of high-durometer EVA or TPU that acts as a protective layer and disperses impact pressure when you come across one of those sharp rocks or other hazards of the trail. Along with Rock Stop reducing pressure, the midsole is comprised of Acteva lightweight-and-durable foam for responsive cushioning. Throughout the upper, a durable and breathable mesh material is used to keep temperatures under control. A reinforced toe guard also adds a bit of protection and durability as well. Finishing off the impressive list of technologies is Sure Lace technology. Sure Lace is a lace design that uses a wave-like pattern that interlocks the laces more securely than standard shoelaces.

The New Balance 101 will be available in February at Eastbay.

I often find trail shoes to be very bulky, these look nice and sleek!

most trail running shoes are not bulky, you are probably of thinking of hiking shoes.
